New Vision | Uganda Air Cargo unveils new planes

Some LogoBy Abou Kisige | THE Uganda Air Cargo Corporation, a firm owned by the defence ministry, has launched two new passenger planes. Fred Kyankya, the general manager, said the Y-12 aircraft would cater for both regional and international clients. "We will now combine three related aviation services; air cargo transport, travel bureau and passenger air charter in a one-stop operation,” he said. Kyankya said the $7m aircraft had a seating capacity of 17 and 19 passengers respectively. Jeje Odongo, the defence state minister, said his ministry would buy more planes to enable the corporation compete favourably. “We shall source for funds from every corner to ensure sustainability of the aircraft. “Uganda Air Cargo is our pride because it is keeping Uganda’s flag and the Crested Crane in the sky,” Odongo said at the launch last week at the Entebbe Air Force base.
